Hi - my name is Susan and I currently live in the deep south (Georgia). I have been an RN for 11 years working in various departments, such as Medical, Surgical, Step-Down, Ortho, Neuro & Rehab. For the most part, I have worked locally in Georgia with the hospitals nearby, and I've also worked for 4 years in Panama City, Florida. I have always been very interested in travel nursing, yet scared to get my feet wet. Hearing all the horror stories, etc. I would love to travel around, yet my husband and my 10 year daughter would like to go with me. Does anyone have any experience traveling with their spouse and child, what do you do about your child being in school, etc.? Also, I hear good things and bad of all the Agencies out there - how can I determine which one would be the best? Any information that anyone can provide for me would be greatly appreciated - Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!

We have a single Mother who is a traveler in our ICU as we speak. She is doing great. You have an advantage of a husband being there. Just treat it all like you're home. If you need child care, do a search and check things out. My sis used to do assignments when her kids were 11 and 12 y/o. They did wonderfully well and enjoyed themselves as a family with houserules. They also enjoyed going to school in other areas of the Country and were the kids making the A's and B's in class. It's all how you plan your Plan.
Thanks for the info - it sounds promising. I have searched and searched again regarding which Company to go with. I have read the forum regarding the "evil empire". I have looked at On Assignment, yet they hardly have any places I am interested in at the moment. Do you have any suggestions as to which would be a good Company to begin with, I am so worried about getting away from home (me and my family) and something happening, such as pay check late, stuff like that. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
