  1. Thanks for all your info - they sent me a study guide for the med test I am suppose to take Tuesday - one little piece of paper - I was expecting an actual study guide if you know what I mean. Do you have a better idea of what is on this test? Thanks
  2. The very best thing about nursing in 11 years - well I am an upbeat person with a lovable personality (that is my greatest asset) - so the best thing about nursing for me would be meeting patients and getting to know them.
  3. People without insurance that have to have a procedure done in an emergency - well then they wonder why the patient doesn't pay - that don't have - the poor are barely getting by with what they have, and how can they come up with this type of bill to pay (another monthly payment). Elderly people have to scratch up the money to pay for their prescriptions monthly that some Doctor has them on (so many meds un-necessary), and you hear stories of elderly people eating pet food cause it is cheaper, no air conditioning nor heat - just so they can pay for their meds each month - what is this world coming too, when we won't even take care (or give a care) about our elderly that have probably worked all their lives - FOR THIS!!!
  4. Thanks SABW - I had an interview Thursday for the Flex Pool - I'm hoping to get the job - will know in a few days. How did you like working at SGMC, and why did you leave? Are all the staff friendly there on all the floors? Would you recommend working there to someone? Thanks for any info you can provide - I work nights.
  5. Hi - anyone out there currently or has every worked at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia?
  6. Anyone Currently here from South Georgia. I live in Nashville, which is close to Tifton, Valdosta, etc. I interviewed at Greenleaf Center today and I am interviewing at SGMC tomorrow for the med/surg flex pool. Also went by Suwanee Agency and I'm thinking of signing on with them. Anyone with any current info? Thanks.
  7. I agree with VegRN's advice completely and WAY TO GO Emmanuel..... I have never had an MD get upset with me and personally think I would go off the chain if they did - maybe the way I carry myself or do my job, let's them know I'm not one to take their crap. Also, each time this Doc goes off on you - RIGHT THEM UP.........
  8. I have to agree with trudy & earle - something is not clearly right here, I can not make a judgement without me being the actual nurse caring for this patient. What has been posted though sounds like the wife needs to be questioned, or someone contacted regarding this situation. Also, as one of the post previously stated about the financial burdens - Who gives a dang about financial burden - I do not care how much it is/cost - I will/would not starve/dehydrate a loved one or friend just for the cost.........
  9. This is just to let you know - GET ANOTHER JOB!!!!! It matters that you made a difference in somebody's life, but not at the risk of being sued or losing your license. If you had 2 patients on vents - with 6 others, that is a big NO NO NO. Vents should be in ICU or StepDown and if you have them both, you should only have one other patient on StepDown or ICU at the most. You should have called the NM or the House Supervisor and told them NO - you are not trying to hard, someone is taking advantage of you at your license expense.
  10. I agree with JohnBearPA - you can't have it both ways. The resident has a right to smoke or not and who are we to deny him that right. I agree if someone has problems being around smoke, that's fine - but I'm sure someone else (like myself) would take the resident out to smoke if my time permits. Also, for all the non-smokers, when you take a break, or leave the floor for your lunch break, I am sure that somewhere out there a nurse that smokes is watching over YOUR patients.
  11. Oops - my bad - I have never heard of it being called that. Thanks..:wink2:
  12. I live in the southern part of Georgia, a hospital I worked at one year ago, on a Surgical floor (nights) would be 7 or sometimes 8:1. I can't wait until Jan. 2008............:monkeydance:
  13. Follow your heart and your dream......:loveya:
  14. You could ask the Nurse Manager about this first, if she doesn't give you a good answer, then keep your fingers crossed that nothing happens and hurry with the interviews. Good Luck!!
  15. I think it's a typo - could it be Rotovirus??
