I'm working on the NCP long term goal for a lady with COPD. The STG's included diaphragmatic, and pursed lip breathing, and effective coping measures, but how do I turn it into a measurable LT goal?

goals, as well as nursing interventions, are intimately linked to each other and are both based upon the symptoms the patient is having, or their responses to their disease process. goals are the results you expect to see once your nursing interventions are executed. it's hard for me to tell you what a good long term goal for this patient would be without knowing what your 3-part nursing diagnostic statement for this particular problem is or what the nursing interventions are that you are ordering. long term goals can sometimes take aim at the underlying cause (etiology) of the patient problem.
