how long does it take for a second interview with a DON?

So... last friday I had an interview with an administrator at a nursing home about the LPN job. He was very kind because I was actually referred by the person he knows. He pretty much interviewed me with some questions and discussed the rate of pay. I was extremely satisfied with the pay and he was very pleased that I was bilingual. Everything went very well that day except I wasn't able to meet with the DON because she was busy. He assured me that he'll make this happen and will let DON know what's going and give me a call for an interview with her. Two days later I'd sent him a thank you email and gave him a call right next day to see how things are going. He told me that he gave the DON my application and she will call me and also mentioned that he has recived my email. I was hoping... maybe today she'll call me, but no luck. So my question is... how long does the second interview usually take? Should I forget about it and move on? I am kind of disappointed, since it was my first interview. What do you think?

    I wouldn't pin all my hopes on a second interview that may never happen. I personally would move on and apply to other facilities. I've been promised a second interview on many occasions, only to see the promise broken. DONs and nurse managers sometimes become busy, or sometimes they've hired a candidate with more experience.

    However, I would find out the first and last name of the DON and perhaps send her a greeting card to gently remind her that you are still interested in the position. I would also follow up with the administrator who granted you the first interview in approximately one week to restate your interest in the position. Good luck to you.

    Also, you called AND sent an email which I think is a little too much. I would wait now maybe a week or so.

    Thank you for the info. Yeah... at this point I pretty much gave up. I'm trying to apply for a home health agency and work as a home health nurse... if everyone is looking for a nurse with at least one year of experience... new grads will never find a job... I think its ridiculous but what can I do? I just need to accept it.. o well thank you once again for an advice! Cheers!

    O.. cuz I heard that its good to email a thank you letter after the interview. But I do agree on the phone call part... I should have waited.. oh well... it seems like I wasn't good enough for them. What makes me disappointed is that they lied to me by saying they will make this happen and stuff. Why couldn't they be more honest and tell me that they won't hire a new grad... they have wasted my time and gave me a hope just to break it down. Anywho... thank you for an advice!!
