how long from graduation til you got visa?

hi to all filipino nurses and nursing students out there! :wink2:

just want to make a little survey.

im sure this will help a lot of people out there and give us all an idea of the time consuming process that we need to prepare for if we want to work abroad.

for all the nurses working in the US who went through the process of applying to a state board of nursing to passing all the exams/requirements and finally finishing the immigration process in the US embassy, how long did it take you to get through all that with flying colors?

i hope people out there who are now where they wanna be in the US can take the time to share some of their experiences on this matter.

It is going to vary widely depending on the state that you go thru, if there is an issue with CGFNS, how long that it takes for your documents to get submitted to immigration, how fast that the attorney is working that the agency hired, if you go that route.

It takes six months to apply for the CGFNS exam and get the results, though, I do not suggest that route. It takes four to six months before you get approval from CA to take the NCLEX exam. That is before anything can even be submitted for you. On average, you are looking at about 16 to 18 months, from start to finish. Also depends on whcih Visa Center, how many others are ahead of you, any restrictions on the country at the time.

Fastest that I have seen for anyone, and this was for someone from the UK, from the time that they had a petition submitted, meaning that they passed NCLEX first, and they do not need English exams, they started in February, and were in the US in September or October. Bu tthis was also during the time that the retro gression was in place so things were much faster for others.
