Lone Star: Tomball vs. Montgomery?

Published

Hi everyone,

I just took my HESI test and am now trying to decide which Lone Star campus to put as my first choice -- Montgomery or Tomball. It seems like general consensus is that Montgomery is both "better" and harder to get into, but their NCLEX pass rates are within a point of each other.

I've also heard that Tomball's nursing dept. is very disorganized (and I admit, I've seen a bit of it myself), but I was wondering whether it has improved any over the past couple of years. Also, I saw where they're building a new health sciences building that sounds a bit like the one at Cy-Fair. Anyone know when it's supposed to be finished and/or whether it might impact the quality of their program?

That's a lot of questions, I know! Anyone have any advice to offer?

I suggest Tomball, due to their passing rate as said by a friend. But better still you can chose Montgometry for your second choice. Can you pls hint me on how the AP section on the hesi? Am so scared of failing this test again. Did you take your test in Tomball college?

Yes, I took my test in Tomball. They made it really easy; you don't have to make an appointment in advance or anything. The A&P part actually wasn't as bad as I was afraid it was going to be. I used the Elsevier Hesi review book, and I felt like the questions on the actual test were easier / less detailed than the ones on the practice test in the book. I think if you study the basics, you'll be ok. I think they use a bank of test questions, though, so you might get a different set than I did.

Just curious! On the reading part did you have passages such as summer olympic games, phobia, one dollar bill, factory, Glass, lightning, heathcare, sleep, food etc.I know is basic, am just curios on what i need to read on the A&P.I'll be happy if you can be of help. Am taken the test this friday.

Those sound like the questions I got. I've slept since then, though, so I don't really remember exactly what all was on the exam! I do think I overstudied, though. Wish I hadn't spent so much time worrying about knowing the names of all the veins, muscles, minute functions of the hormones, etc. If you know how the human body works on a very basic level, I think you'll do fine. Best of luck!
