Hello everyone,
I thought I would start a forum for students at Lone Star Montgomery for the LVN program. I don't know about you but I am confused on whether I should go straight through for the RN program which will take me another 3 to 4 years because of all of the core classes you have to have before you even enter the RN program. Or take the LVN program beginning next year. I only need Biology I 2401 to get into the LVN program. I have met all the requirements to get into the LVN program. The only class holding me back is Biology which I will take in the spring. Any thoughts out there? Share your comments and post whatever you like.

Thanks for putting this thread out there! I have all of the pre-req's but they are over five years old. I can take a refresher course for each of them but they could not tell me whether or not I could do that online (the nursing dept. that is). I live in College Station and will be applying to Blinn and TAMU's nursing schools as well. I have not heard anything about the Lone Star Montgomery LVN program but would love anymore info that you may have (as well as anyone else).
Good luck!
Lone Star Montgomery does offer the LVN and RN programs. I know that if your Biology classes and maybe some other ones are over 5 yrs old, you will have to retake them or try to test out of them, in order to go into either nursing program. The LVN program starts May or June 2010 at Lone Star Montgomery. I hope this helps you out.
Thanks! I know that Lone Star Montg. is offering an information session regarding the program in November. I can't remember if you have to attend but I plan to just so that I can speak with someone face-to-face regarding the 5+ years courses.
Hope all goes well for you!
5+ years that is exactly why I am doing the LVN program right now instead of the RN track. I need to start working a lot sooner then 4 or 5 yrs down the road. After I become an LVN I will go back and transition into the RN program and hopefully the hospital I work at will pay for me to go back to do that. I know hospitals have a lot of sign on bonuses too.
That is my plan as well. I have read that many hospitals/businesses do not hire those who attend the fast-track nursing programs so I've decided that my best bet is to obtain my LVN certificate and then go for my RN within a couple of years.
Sounds like a good plan to me lol........are you attending Lone Star Montgomery college? Right now I am taking Psych and English 1301. My English online starts tomorrow and it will be the first time for me to take it online. I'm a little nervous about that class. I'm going in blind taking it online. I'm used to attending classes at the campus. Have you taken classes online???

For the Lonestar college system Lvn program all you need is biology 2404 or biology 2401 and 2402.Biology 2404 is intro to anatomy and physiology but it has a mixture of both anatomy 2401 and 2402.If your going for lvn I would recommend taking biology 2404 even if your going for rn this class will help you in 2401 and 2402.Your grade determines how many points you will get. for the lvn program itse up to 8points .4 points if you make an A in anatomy and the rest of the points comes from the hesi score divided.I went to a nursing info session at montgomery college in july 09.Im currently in biology 2404 because i plan on applying for the lvn program this summer.I would recomend going on rate my professor to find out about a teacher before you choose them.If your biology courses are 5 years old you take refresher courses in the continuing education department for each of them or you can just retake them.Psycology, Algebra,Sociology. etc. 5 years and over you dont have to retake.
Lone Star College is now accepting Biology 2404 as a refresher course for both Biology 2401 & 2402.Look on the lone star cyfair college nursing dept site its on there.
I have decided I am going for the RN instead of the LVN. I'm not working right now so it is the perfect opportunity for me to attend. In the spring I am taking A&P I , Sociology and Fitness for Life I. It is going to take me longer then the LVN but eventually it will pay off.
