Loma Linda University DNP Fall 2015

Published

Wanted to start a thread for the BS to DNP program at LLU commencing Fall 2015! Has anyone heard back from the admissions committee about their application status? I had an interview last Monday and am eagerly awaiting a reply!

Yes...6 years. I have chosen to attend APU... i know a couple of people in the program now and have managed working m-f job since most classes are in the later part of the day. When we start clinicals Iwill have to use up my vacation time

Glad everything seems to be working out. Good luck in your schooling at APU! :)

I'm also going to APU. I went to CBU for undergrad and didn't want to pay another $90k for school. I'll pay $20k for my MSN and DNP at APU. Erica which track are you? I'm ANP/AGNP. Congrats Erica! So glad you were able to ale a decision! It was a tough one!

Congrats to you all! I had a few questions to ask, since this is the route I am planning to take once I finish my ADN/BSN.

I would love to go to either LLU, or APU for their Pediatric Nurse Practitioner programs. What made you decide on either campus!? Cost, Proximity, Flexibility, Reputation?

Also, in Dec I finish with my ADN from RCC, than going to CSUF for their online distance program. ( I meet 1x a week at RCC, the rest is online) That will be another 1.5 years. But my main goal is to get my Masters, and eventually the DNP since I know that will be the standard in a few years.

My other question is, did you wait to go back to school, or have you done it all in one straight shot? What do you recommend as new grad coming onto the scene? Any advice would surely be appreciated!

Thanks again, and congrats to you all, I can't wait to be where you are all at one day : )

hello!

congrats to all that got in the DNP program, I am a nursing major trying to apply to a BSN program, but after I am done with that I want to get the DNP for nurse practitioner, I had a question for the people that got in, is admissions really competitive, what was your gpa, what is your advice for letters of recommendation, what are they looking for in the personal statement, is the health science reasoning test difficult, what do they ask in the interview, and overall how is the dnp program like. to be specific I would want to apply to the BSN to DNP program ,good luck to everyone!

Hi I was just interviewed at LLU for the dnp program. Are you in the program already? How is it like? Thank you!!

I've been in the program for a several quarters now. I would say it's a pretty well-structured program, and the hybrid/distance model is very convenient. The program is small so you will get a lot more one-on-one attention with professors if that's what you are looking for. The NP program is very rigorous -- much more so than BSN, but for good reason. I will be starting clinical rotations next quarter. It does take a long time to get the DNP. I opted to go ultra full time so I could finish the program more quickly, at the expense of not working very much. Hope this helps :)

Hi everyone..... I wanted to se how those of you in the LLU program are liking it. I just started the FNP/DNP. I owuld love to get to know others in the program.

Hi ladyNP. I just started the LLU program. I would love to pick your brain on how you like it.

I like the program, although it is more strenuous than I anticipated--definitely difficult to accomplish if you plan to work full time or even part time. Small class sizes is a huge plus, and it gives you the opportunity to really connect/communicate with professors. How do you like the program so far MeCaliRN?

sorry for grammar errors! *small class sizes are etc

Its ok... My major issue is the PRICE!! Sometimes I feel they are a little unorganized for the price. Thinking about switching to APU for that reason. Plus LLU requires a lot of classes that other programs don't. I need to pray about it. I think the LLU's name carries weight though. I worry APU may not be as respected. What do you think.
