Locum tenens nurse practitioner? Travel NP?

Specialties NP

Anybody have any experience working as a Locum Tenens Nurse Practitioner? I've been exploring websites that seem to have many positions open, kind of like travel nursing assignments but for NP's instead. Anybody done this before? I would like to find out more and possibly consider this kind of work in the future...

Hi Emtneel,

I know it's been awhile since your last post but I would like to know how it's going now? Did the locum company help you get your DEA? Would you do it again? Any information you have on becoming a locum would be appreciated.

Yes, i think i may have posted another more recent post on my travels.

I have been doing locums now for 3 years, and have worked in MA, CA, NM, CO, TX, and i have FL license but haven't worked there yet.

Yes, the locums co pd for my DEA $550 so that was good. Most will pay for any licenses and such that are required.

I will try to find the link to the other post or update more later.

Feel free to ask any specific questions.

Thank you for your reply,

I'm thinking of becoming a locum in the very near future. I do not have a DEA. Can you share some of your tips for new wannabe locums, especially the names of some companies, best time periods and the best assignments (short or long) to take starting out please?:yeah:
