LNA Class

Hi guys, I'm very interested in becoming a nurse and I really want to be able to work as a LNA while I get my nursing school stuff rolling so here is where my question starts.

My mother has worked for a LTC company for about 18 years as an LNA in the Dementia unit. This company provides free LNA training in exchange for 1 year of work. While I would consider this to be an awesome opportunity, the more my mom thought about it the more she really didn't want me to do it. The reason being, is that the class is 3 weeks long 5 days a week but she says that the LNA's they pop out are pretty sub-par so she really wanted me to go to one of the local colleges for their programs..however do to getting late into the game on this..they are all full plus expensive (their classes are about 4 months long twice a week) so pretty much I'm in the situation where I need to do the classes at her job (one because I want to, and two because I really need a job lol) so basically my question is...how do I make sure I'm not one of those sub-par students? I understand that part of the issue is a bad teacher but there HAS to be a way for me to supplement their education so that I can be a leg up on most folks, so what would you recommend?

Thanks for your time.
