Lincoln Tech Moorestown Lpn program questions!!!!

Hi everyone I'm brand new to allnurses :D I am starting the full-time lpn program at Lincoln tech this march :yeah: I just wanted to ask a few lengthy questions so bare with me capable answers are highly appreciated: for Lincoln tech grads what kind of education should I expect? Did you have trouble finding work? Did you feel well prepared? How were the teachers? Was the school work very intense? I took the teas entrance exam and aced it but it was the easier version 3.0 I believe. I read some bad reviews on the program and when I went to the old Lincoln tech campus in mt laurel, nj it looked really cheap and low budget and I practically ran out the building after hearing the tuition. Now there is a new campus in moorestown, nj which is remarkably better looking than the old campus and they have some pretty high-tech dummies that actually swallow pills and read med errors :coollook: They also have a lot more laboratory space, job placement and 5 different clinical locations (psych, peds, long-term, assisted living, and the job I currently work at as a cna which is a subacute rehab facility) Any reviews on this campus? It looks like a good deal to me I need to hurry up into a nursing program fast it seems it gets harder and harder each year to get into one and I finished all my prereqs but being waitlisted does not appeal to me. At my county tech school, BCIT, the tuition went up to a whopping 20,000 dollars every module you have to pay 4000 dollars and there is no option for financial aid how the heck am I supposed to pay 4000 dollars every few months out of pocket on top of trying to survive on my own with bills :confused: Lincoln tech's tuition is very pricey BUT with financial aid I'm paying less than 10,000 back at the end of the day. I'm very VERY EXCITED to be enrolled at Lincoln tech and to be that much closer to becoming a nurse :D Anyone else in or enrolling in this program? Hey there, i went to Lincoln Tech in paramus. I did the evening program because I have kids. My take on lincoln tech is that they are all about $$$ my tuition was 23,000 and I felt like they rob their students. They keep taking in students left and right without having aproppriate staff. Many time we would go to class or clinical and wouldnt have an instructor. Also, sometimes we wouldnt have a classroom because they would over book classes! It was crazy! I did finish the whole orogram and Im sitting for nclex tomorrow.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this site & I have been looking into LT in Moorestown for a few weeks now. I was attending CCC for the past 2 years but after being told I will be on a 2 year waiting list for the LPN program I decided I need to do something now, that's what led me here. I have been looking up information & this is so far the first positive forum that I have found on this school. I have read horror stories but it's hard to tell if they are from serious students or not. Can someone please answer a few questions for me, if at all possible? It would definitely settle my nerves so I could set up an appointment to view the school!:yeah:

1) Is it true that the teachers do not teach?

2) Do you REALLY have hands on training?

3) Will hospitals/doctors offices accept a technical school over a county school graduate?

4) How much does it cost?

5) If you have graduated already - How difficult was it to find a job & is it true that the school takes forever to send you your diploma?

I actually had to reschedule an appt I made last week so I'll be going to speak to someone this week in admissions. I'm in the same boat as you but I think at the end of the day it is what you make it. I think MOST of the program is SELF STUDY. which is why most students say that it was hard, and they didn't learn much and so on. I mean expect some of the teachers to suck..lol. Wasn't there ALWAYS a teacher who sucked? You pretty much have to learn what you can in class, and study as much as possible or invest in a tutor if needed. Now thats what I gathered after hearing so many people's testimonies which didn't dissuade me from going really.

The pros about this school were, FOR ME, the fact that I don't have time to be on a waiting list, and I didn't want to have to apply to a college where you need SOO many requirements and have to deal with all the competitiveness just so you could be wait listed! Some folks have the time but with me hating my career (I'm an underpaid CNA), being a single mother and having children I've decided to take matters in my own hands. The cons of course are THE COST!:down: Its up there...expect 20,000 or so. FA helps a lot though. For me not so much.

Also LPNs are slowly being phased out so most who graduate in a LPN program plan on becoming a RN asap next. RNs are becoming the NORM. These programs are just a shortcut for some. Most hospitals these days have "patient care techs", so you can see why its harder for LPNs to work in hospitals these days. Most end up in nursing home facilities and so on. which is pretty tough but hey, you gotta start from the bottom to get to the top sometimes.

As far as hosp./doctor offices not accepting Lincoln students, I don't think that really matters to most employers. I think experience and having your NCLEX is what counts the most. Being licensed is what counts.

No one can tell you what YOUR EXPERIENCE may be like. It may be a perfect fit for you (especially if your a go getter) or you may hate it. Either way, I think making an appt (keep in mind admission counselors are sales reps lol), taking a tour, and speaking with some students won't hurt. Now obviously, Lincoln won't amount to a college because its not BUT as I said for some of us, this is a shortcut and our last resort!

but your questions were great...i know I can't help you more but if ANYONE DOES HAVE THE ANSWER to some of those, then let me know too. :)

If you decide to go, and end up taking the TEAS, then let me know! It would be nice to keep in touch with someone who's thinking of enrolling soon. AND ANYONE ELSE WHO's been accepted.....I'm not planning on starting until this fall if all goes well.

Hi has anyone recently attened an information session at LT Moorestown...I am planning to call them tomorrow to go in and get some information. Also do they require you to take the TEAS exam if so what is the require passing grade...any and all info would be greatly appreciated;)

I've read a whole bunch of reviews for LTI. Some were scary, some were encouraging. I am starting the 16 month program tomorrow, 10/17/11. I have a need to succeed. I am choosing to take each negative review with a grain of salt. In my opinion, this course is going to be challenging. It should be tough, I'm trying to be a Licensed Nurse for goodness sake. I would hope that it takes some effort. Bottom line, I've been in many healthcare situations, as a patient. I am determined to be one of the top students in my class. I believe that it does not really matter where you go to school... All that really matters is that you learn the information and conduct yourself in a professional manner. Passing the test to become licensed is the ultimate goal. I don't expect to be coddled during school, I expect to be taught and given information to process as knowledge. If anyone has any advice or help to offer, please speak up.

I started LTI in September...so far so good....you will get out of it what you put in to it, so far everything that I was told I would get is what I have gotten,theres A LOT of book work & if you don't stay on top of it you will quickly fall behind...before I started LTI I read all of the negative comments & I am so glad I didn't let that stop me from going to the school..those that write the commentator are probably the ones that didn't do well...the first few days is gonna take some adjusting but soon as things get underway you'll be just fine...again good luck!!

Hello all and thax for replying to my post ;) Haven't entered a post in a while as you can see but have nothing more than good news. I am very happy with Lincoln Tech's LPN program. Yes YOU have to put more than money into your education. Those who have negative comments I am very sorry that you did not have the same experience with Lincoln Tech as I but I believe the school is very fine if you truly want to become a nurse and won't complain about a few small issues compared to that. Yes it is a very expensive program but the other very reputable LPN program in the area raised their tuition to just as WITHOUT FA ASSISTANCE AND A FLAT PAYMENT OF $4000.00 EVERY 3 MONTHS OR BYE BYE. Lincoln Tech works with you and your payment plan and your loan can be owed back for up to 10 years after grad and you don't start paying it until 6 months after grad. DON'T LISTEN TO NEGATIVITY FROM THOSE WHO WENT TO THIS SCHOOL. THEY HAVE THEIR LPN WHILE THEY'RE TELLING YOU NOT TO GET IT? Go for it if you want it I hear the same things about an online LPN to RN program which I will be enrolling in but guess what I'm going to do it and get my RN and no one's going to stop me. :redbeathe God Bless will keep you posted, Amz.

I looked into it further and I begin LTI December 16th for their full time LPN program and I am so excited! I'm glad to hear you like it so far! After reading your comment I definitely feel better about school. Good luck to you!

Hello everyone.. I read this forum about 2 months ago looking for infomation on Lincoln tech. I read the bad and I also read the good . But I decieded to go for it and forget the negative stuff . So here is my opinion , if I could go back I would have gone to bcit which is only 18 thousand instead of 28 thousand , which also does accept financial aide. First complaint is that the teas test they give you is very easy . In order to allow more people in the program in return more profit . Our class started off with 40 students and now we are down to 20 and we are not finished with the first semester . They try to keep people in there for longer then a week so you have to pay the full 8XXX $ for that semester .I am passing .. Because I study on my own no help from The teachers. One of the biggest reasons I went to lti instead of bcit was because they said they have all theses tutors that will help you . That is totally false. Yes they do have a library with books and a few teachers but they fail to mention that the teachers there are setting up the program and class and lots of other things . And honestly have no free time to help you study . 90 percent of the students in the class are failing and they only came here cause they have no job and kids and the government gives them lots of grants to come back to school and get a education . The problem is that they are not deicated and honestly don't have enough time to self teach themselves . Hence why we are down to 20 and still dropping . Oh another thing that bothers me about the program is clinicals .. When I signed up the way I was lead is that you will be doing your clinicals close to your house . They fail to mention in the small print that the clinical site can be up to 50 miles away fro. Lincoln tech not your house . So say you live in PA and it takes you 40 minutes to get to Lincoln tech . Well after that it can be up to 50 miles opposite of Lincoln tech say hammonton nj. So you are now driving two hours to your clinical site everyday . :( . Or you can be like me . I live in can dam nj and there is a clinical site in our town. So logically thinking you would get that site. NOPE wrong . They said it's not fair if you only have to drive 5 minutes and some one else has to drive 1 hour ect. The positive thing is that in the end I get the same licensed as I would of in another school. But in all honesty. You can go to the nj board of nursing and they will give you a list of schools around your area that offer Lpn school. Check your facts before signing anything . The problem with BCIT is that it does NOT offer financial aide and you would need a personal loan, not a student loan, to go there. The other problem with BCIT is that it's not accredited. Finding a school post-BCIT for LPN to RN is impossible. I have exhausted every option and was originally meant to start BCIT in December but after realizing all this, I decided to go to LTI. Which campus are you at? I will be in Moorestown and they mentioned it could be a hike for clinicals but it's like that with any program since only a certain few hospitals offer hands on learning (I currently work at a hospital.) I have heard complaints before saying that teachers are not very helpful and you need to teach yourself, that's pretty much how any school is. I was studying pre-nursing at CCC and the teachers would read from the textbook and not give notes or go over anything; do teachers at least go over subjects you ask them?? I sure hope so! I'm nervous as it is. Thanks!
