Light therapy for night shifters?

Published

Any night shifters use light therapy and/or sustained release melatonin? Just curious about your experiences with it, especially if you switch back and forth or live in a darkened climate.

There are glasses that filter out blue light. The theory is that the blue component of what makes up light is what most affects your circadian rhythm over the night shift. By taking out the blue light, natural melatonin productions increases to normal levels allowing you to sleep normally after a night shift. They are a funny orange color, but I think I would try them if I worked overnights...And apparently you only have to wear them for about 3 hours before going to bed for maximum effect. A lot of people seem to say they work. I have also heard that they cut down the risk of other night shift related health problems.
