Lifting weights around work schedule

Published

Anyone else lift weights?

What kinda routine do you do?

I work 3 12's/week and they the days I work rotate each week. I'd really like to be on a push/pull/legs, but coz of the inconsistancy with my work schedule, it wouldn't work

So....I came up with a two day push/pull to rotate and I end up getting 2-3 workouts in per/week

Looks like this

Push

Weighted dips 3x10-12

Inc db 3x8-10

Flat db 3x8-10

Pull

Trap bar deadlifts 3x5

Pendlay row 3x8

Chins 3x6

I'm looking at adding sldl's and maybe some light front squats (I have no rack).

Interested to see what you guys can pull off

I work days on a post op floor, so nutrition is tough on work days...two protein shakes at best plus breakfast and dinner.

:D

man i've been waiting for someone to start a thread such as this... i'm fortunate enough to work with 3 other guys and 2 girls in my rotation in the unit. the majority of us have always worked out cause the hospital has a pretty fair excercise facility with a simi olympic pool. but since new yrs we really bit the bullet and went hard core. one of the coworkers husband is a phys. therapist and is a workout stud. so we get alot of education from him and he has helped us follow along with our routine. for yrs i've done alot work on muscles that might impress the ladies, but i've gotten away from that, i really hit the lrge group sets of muscles, bench, squat, dead lift, barbell shoulder press, rows, use as heavy wt as i can. i also hit my abd core, with the medicine ball and the roll wheel. what i've been taught is to constantly mix up your work out routine. it's something i've always known but only did until recently. i go heavy wts for about 1 month, then switch to lighter wts and do more reps. and i incorperate different grip settings too. we chipped in and bought a blender for work and keep it in the breakroom, where we mix protien drinks, i use designer protien mix from gnc. i just like the taste better and it's easier on my gut "less farting". i try to drink atleast 1-2 shakes during a 12hrs shift, and stay away from high fat and simple carbs. our hospital gym opens from 0530-2330 so we have plenty of time to wrk out. i guess i'm lucky cause if i have a excersice question about a routine, injury or nutrition, i just pick up the phone and call phys. therapy/excersice therapy and the nutrition office and talk with them...free. i guess it's a perk for working in a hospital, so i use it.
