Does anyone know anything about LifeCare Hospital in Pewaukee WI? I love working in LTAC but it might be time for a change. Any info on working conditions and patient satisfaction is appreciated.

Are you aware that Lifecare has just filed bankruptcy? This may not be the best career move
I did not know that. I hadn't even heard of them until this week. Good to know. Thanks.

I work for Lifecare and they are only going through a "restructuring" right now. They are still hiring and offering really great sign-on bonuses for the nurses. I like it there!! ;0)
They are restructuring... they are not closing down or at risk of closing down. Companies restructure all the time. That's how Donald Trump made his fortune. LOL ;0)
Marie0304... What can you tell me about LifeCare? Staffing ratios, charting methods, teamwork, how do they handle emergencies (dedicated rapid response team, etc). Do you have standing orders and protocols that make sense? (My current employer does not).... I am very curious and I saw this morning that there are positions open. Generally, are nurses happy there? Basically I'm looking for a general snapshot of what a typical day would look like for a nurse there. Thanks!!!
RNikkiF, I did NOT have the best experience there. I was there just under 90 days. The management there leaves a lot to be desired, at least in the location in my area. I even had to leave a message that I was quitting with the lady who answers the phone at the facility. No one ever returned my calls or seemed to care that I was unhappy or wanting to leave. The training process for me, who has never worked with a patient on a ventilator prior to working there, was AWFUL! I never felt safe or comfortable in my location/facility. I was appalled... That's the best word I have for working there. No one seemed happy there... not even the housekeeper or unit clerk... WHEN the unit clerk was actually ON the floor and not eating/smoking or on her phone at the desk. Management is AWFUL. I would NEVER recommend them to ANYONE. Did I say appalling???
