License Verification on-line

Anyone know how long after passing NCLEX-RN it shows up on the on-line verification page? (this is for a friend in NY, if that matters)

Also, can s/he apply for a job before receiving the hard copy of the license when the state has already provided him/her with a license #?

(I got mine pretty quickly, I think 3 weeks or so for the actual paper license, but my friend is very eager to start working)

It may vary by state but in Ohio I was able to see my license online the afternoon after taking the nclex. I would certainly say she could apply for jobs before receiving the license in the mail. I applied for jobs while I was still in school and simply had to notify them I passed the NCLEX, and my employer never asked to see my physical license -- they looked me up on the internet and wrote down my license number on the appropriate paperwork.

hi! i applied license in tx and Temporary license was issued few days after but it took me a month before I got my permanent license. HOwever, recently, when I tried checking on their online verification, my name was not on their RN list.. DOes that mean anything?

I think it may vary by state, and in WV by the whim of the BON. Some of my classmates posted after a day or two, but it took 8 long days for mine to come up. (Maybe there were a lot of results, since I tested in July. I figure that's a busy time.)

I took my test last Wednesday and it was posted this last Saturday in NY.
