License Reinstatement with CNO with a new job offer

Specializes in Long term care.

I’m currently in the process of reinstating my license with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Fortunately, it’s within the 3 year limit so I don’t have to jump through any big hoops, but I can’t believe that the process is taking forever!

Today I interviewed for a job in a physicians office. The hours are perfect, no weekends, no holidays... and it’s 5 minutes walking distance from my home. It’s a pay is a cut, but more hours and totally worth it.

I was so excited when I got hired on the spot! I told the doctor I’d need two weeks to give my other job notice and arrange childcare... (I’m not actually working there) but it’s really because I knew my reinstatement would be done any day! However, the physician got me to stupidly agree to training tomorrow and two other days this week. I left the office excited, but then dread kicked in... what about my license???

I got home and called the CNO. They told me that the only thing missing was my verification form from my old job. I was shocked. My old boss told me this had been sent in WEEKS ago! I called my old boss to confirm and she said it had been sent in, but they said they will send another copy tomorrow by registered mail instead.

So now, I have to tack on more time because of the snail mail CNO process... and now what do I do about this job?!

I’ve decided I want to go in for training tomorrow and try to explain my situation to the physician. Hoping they will understand and just have me complete the work I can, without having to do vaccinations or dressing changes until my license is back...but I can’t believe it’s literally this form and a payment standing in my way and it’s going to take weeks!

anyone else gone through a situation like this? What did you do?
