License Expired...Please Help!!

Published

hey everyone, i'm so glad i found this cna forum! i have a few questions.

i've already taken the cna course and passed the exam back in 2003 but never really did much with it after and has since expired. i'm pretty sure i can just retake the test again (skills and written exam) to make it active again without having to retake the whole course again but just wanted to double check...anyone know if this is true? i'm a wi resident so i dont know if that matters at all or not.

my other question is i'm trying to find some sites to read and videos online to watch to help me refresh my memory as its been a while since i've done things like making an occupied bed, peri care, brushing teeth, etc etc...are there any really good or helpful sites out there that i've missed? these are the ones i have so far that i've found on this forum:

http://nursingassistantcentral.homestead.com/

http://planet.tvi.edu/healthoccupations/ho_program_homes/nursing/intralink/basicpatientcareskills.doc#range

http://deptets.fvtc.edu/nursing/index.htm

i'm pretty nervous about retaking the test again because i feel i may forget something. thanks for any advice!

i also forgot to ask what text book do you have to use for the class? i've been looking online but there are so many out there and i can't remember what one we used when i was going through the course i'm sure it has been updated since then too. tia!

I am not from your state but would hazard a guess that you will be required to retake the class. Give your certification people a phone call, and find out for sure. It won't hurt to retake it. It will help you get ready to retake the test. (And remember, from now on, it is easier to maintain a certificate or license than it is to get it all over again!) Good luck.

I am in Ohio and I also am licensed in Pennsylvania. Funny this thing sort of happened to me. It was a mistake that Ohio was saying my license had expired. I was told that I had to retake the class. It's the same in PA. too.Believe me I wasn't happy. Due to a mistake my Ohio license was reinstated without having to take the class. Wehn I took my class back in 2000, it was free. Free!

Now classes in my area cost $460.00-$600.00 depending where you go. I hope you won't have to retake the class because of the cost but it will refresh your skills.

Call your state office, I did and was told I would only need to retake the exam. They sent me a list of places who would give me the class and I call made an appt. and was given materials to review.

thanks for the replies! what text book do you have to buy for the class? i know it will cost me about 75$ to buy one from the school so if possible i'd like to buy one online but i dont know what text it is that is used in the classroom. tia
