I live in illinois and am moving to Arizona after I graduate in August. I have been reading online and everything seems really confusing. I think I found the application for the Arizona license but it says it cost 300 dollars!! So i have to pay for the NCLEX and that 300?? I'm just wondering if that is right. Also, do I have to wait until I have graduated to send the application? Has anyone else done this and how difficult/expensive is it. Thanks

Each state sets its own fees for licensure. Yes, it's quite possible that AZ's licensure fee is $300 (just checked- yes, it is). Have you seen their packet for license by examination? It's got a lot of the steps spelled out in checklist form. While it's expensive, be sure to save receipts because you can use it as a tax write-off if you itemize your deductions.

I am in AZ. Yes it is $300 for the application and another $50 for fingerprinting. Even if you have already been fingerprinted or have a fingerprint card. You will still need to be fingerprinted through the BON.
Yes you can apply before graduation. It is actually suggested to apply about a month early so they have time to process your application. Pay the $200 to PV at the same time so you get your ATT quickly. Then once you graduate your school will need to send your certificate of completion and transcripts to the AZ BON. It then takes the AZ BON about 2-3 weeks to process your paperwork and send approval to PV. This is all spelled out in the application packet.
Your best bet is to print out the application packet and follow it to a T so there aren't delays with your application.
They ey are pretty fast with pass/fail reporting though. Many times your license is posted before quick results are available.
Only lay caveat is to be sure you are going to pass. If you have a preceptorship then wait until you pass your final and start that before applying. You don't get your money back if you fail the semester and you only have so long from applying before your app is invalid and you will have to pay again.
