liberal arts to nursing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello guys, I wanted to see if you guys know of any colleges in which I can enter into a liberal arts program and then after transfer to the nursing department, this would be a good idea because they will see the scores for those classes you take in liberal arts

I am in NYC. Queens actually, I already applied for BMCC for the part time nursing , but am going into liberal arts part time- first. just wondering if you guys have any other colleges that have the same type of situation.

Has to be part time liberal arts->part time nursing.

so far I have found BMCC. doesn't have to be cuny..

Trying to avoid private schools as they are really expensive.

Are you thinking that you could gain enrollment as a liberal arts (LA) student and then sort of 'slide' into the nursing program? Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. Your current student status doesn't usually make any difference. You will undoubtedly have to re-apply for the nursing program... some schools give extra consideration if you have been enrolled in their pre-nursing 'major', but this is not always the case.

If you are absolutely sure you want to pursue a BSN, you will be wasting time, effort & money by taking LA classes you don't need. If you're eligible for Federal subsidy, this can burn through it very quickly & leave you dependent upon loans to support your nursing education... not an optimal plan.

I encourage you to meet with an advisor for the nursing program in which you are interested... they can provide you with accurate and up to date information.
