Hi,
I am an independent contractor RN doing assessments for long term care insurance companies. I provide no hands on care and only touch the patients occasionally when the companies request bp measurments, heights, and weights. Do I need Liability Insurance? I currently work for 4 companies who don't require it but recently made contact with another company who does require I have it. Just wondering how necessary it is.

Hello,
I am curious what companies you work for. I also do this in Texas and I am looking for more companies to get involved with.
Thanks!

I would say "definitely YES!". You can incur liability for all sorts of things - plaintiff's attorneys are very creative these days. Hopefully, your company has some very clear policies and procedures .. which would shift the liability to the organization if you are adhering to them. A good liability policy not only covers you if you are involved in a mistake, but will also provide legal counsel to protect you if you are drawn into a frivolous lawsuit just because of your association with the company.
