Level 1 TC CNA???

I live about 45 min away from one of my states Level one Trauma centers. I have shadowed in EM and Trauma and i love it so much. I am currently a CNA, and i was wondering if there is such a thing as CNA's working in a hospital's Trauma center?

All help and wisdom is greatly appreciated!

Hi there,

I worked as a float CNA this summer at many hospitals, including a very large, urban, level 1 trauma hospital. My position was that of a CA III (clinical assistant III). In my area, CNA's in the acute setting are considered CA's I, II, and III. The level I work mainly as sitters and less acute floors. Level II's work in more acute areas of the hospital, including ICU's. The level III's are allowed to work in the ED and typically have at least 2 years experience as a hospital CA. Level II/III's can do more clinical skills such as EKG's, IV's and blood draws. I have to say that I have also worked as medical assistant for 12 years before working as a CA and that allowed me to start off as a CA II. Currently, I am a senior finishing my BSN but found that the experience gained working at the hospital was very beneficial.

Best of luck!!
