Letter, To myself.

Moderators: I know this is a second topic on the same subject, but I want a different answer from current nurses vs. nursing students. Thanks.

I am required to write a letter to myself for Graduation when I finish my BSN. I am here to get advice about what you would put in a letter to yourself 2/3 years from now? A little background: I am in my first nursing class and moving forward. This letter will be given to me when I cross the stage and before my NCLEX.

What would you write to your future self? Any advice? What do you wish you knew when you graduated from Nursing School that would be useful today?

What experiences before, and after your acceptance and your first nursing class can you write about? What have you endured and the feelings behind those experiences can you write about?

I had the unique experiences of not passing an ADN program, dusted myself off, entered a PN program, passed, and was working as a LPN while in a BSN program; so if I had a letter, it was more for encouragement to stay true to myself by ensuring that I was a student in the classroom learning to be an RN and my life as a nurse would be separate. I would remain a sponge through my experience, and also understood the nursing student experience of competition, jockeying for networking and those coveted recommendations for further jobs...that certainly didn't change in all my experiences in nursing school; and above all be assertive and immersed in the student-teacher relationship and do my best in relation to my teacher's styles of communication and how they treat their students, and go from there.

I can say this all because I used my previous experiences to excel and have a successful positive nursing school experience-think about what you would want you to look back on those goals feelings and the "new" experience along with what you would want to learn and express when you open that letter.
