Hello, everyone. I am currently applying to several nursing schools. One of the schools require a letter of recommendation from a professional reference. The only "professional" work I have done as a student is retail work. Is it fine to have my general manager write a letter of recommendation to the program?
A general manager of retail is absolutely fine for a professional reference. A "professional" reference just means it should someone you are not related to or met socially, like a teacher, supervisor, or boss. Not be a "personal" reference like a friend, neighbor, or your grandmother.
Sure. Your manager can speak to your work ethic, your excellent attendance, your willingness to learn new duties, your interpersonal relations with your coworkers, your willingness to take constructive criticism ... all relevant.
