Lehman College, CUNY - 2022

Published

Hi! I created a thread for those applying to the nursing program in 2022.

Has anyone yet been to the clinical orientation??

Specializes in Pre nursing.

Hi everyone! I created a thread for those applying to Lehman college(Bronx,NY) fall 2023! The thread name is Lehman College Fall 2023

Hey all! Curious how everyone’s adjusting into the 1st semester

Hey guys, I'm new to this website. I wanted to ask if Lehman is really as competitive as everyone makes it sound. I'm planning to apply to the nursing program in fall 2026. I have a current GPA of 3.8 and A's in all my pre reqs except CHE 114 & 115, I got a B ( due to a bad prof :(  ).

I'm very anxious, and I'm considering going to a private school instead because everyone says CUNY is very hard to get into the nursing program because of the volume of applicants and how few seats are available.

Do I have a good chance, or should I save myself the wait and apply private?

hi! thought I'd share my experience, especially if you'd like to gain a higher degree later on! my grades were similar to yours, I don't remember exactly what they were. I didn't get in when I applied a few years ago. so I decided to get a B.S at Lehman in another area that I found interesting so that the credits I had already earned wouldn't be wasted by transferring to another institution that might/might not accept most of my credits and set me back further.

I earned my degree and made sure to get any other prereqs completed that most other nursing programs ask for- then applied to Masters programs and now I'm completing my MSN at Hopkins.

it wouldn't hurt to apply to Lehman's program AND private schools (and talk to them about how many credits would transfer over) if a bachelor's is the goal along with getting your license earlier! hope this helps!

Thank you for the insight! May I ask what you majored in? I looked into my other options at Lehman and I'd lose a lot of my credits I'm worried about that a lot. It's a lot of time and money spent! The thing about applying to nursing schools nowadays is most colleges require you to already be a student there for a while... so my options are very limited. I do want to purse a higher education in the future but for now I'm trying to get into the Lehman program and the advisors are incredibly unhelpful and I can't find much student experiences online.

Hey! I graduated from Lehman's nursing program in 2024. I also had a 3.8 GPA and all A's in my pre-reqs except I had a B in Bio and a C in Microbio! However I got a 90 on the entrance HESI and my critical thinking score I believe was an 850. I think your GPA and your pre-req grades are great to be honest, when do you take your entrance HESI? I would make sure I do well on those, I believe you have a good chance of being accepted! Lehman was a little competitive but I think it was super affordable and tbh all nursing schools are kinda the same where students have to teach themselves. I feel like you should stay and apply for 2026! And I believe you can still apply to some other schools as long as you have their pre-reqs!

Thank you for saying this! It really renewed my hope!! I'm planning on applying for fall 2026, so I'll probably take the HESI somewhere in December or January? I haven't scheduled it yet! I really hope I can get into Lehman's program, and I'll definitely apply to others as well<3
