Greetings to all

I am just wondering if there are any legal nurse consultants out there who tap into this site often. If so, I would like to hear from you. Your field of expertise, experiences, etc.

Thanks

Hi, I was trying to find some legal nurse consultants in Iowa. Im interested in taking the course and was wondering if there is a lot of job opportunities here in Iowa. Im a RN and work in ICU right now in southeast Iowa. I was wondering if the demand was out there for this kind of work. Do your work from home, or have certain attorneys?? Maybe you could give me a little feedback on how you like it. I would appreciate it very much and thanks for your time.

Hi,

I have signed up for the Vickie Milazzo course and am going to las Vegas in October for the seminar. I will let you know how it goes.

Shelly

I heard from an ex-instructor that Vickie Milanzo's class is excellent and expensive. She is a CLNC and works from her home and well as teaches. She told me it is well worth the money, but a lot of information in a short time. Vickie does have a site that can be visited after class for questions and information.

Hope this helps. I am currently enrolled at UOPHX in the BSN program and when I have obtained my BSN, plan to complete the CLNC course. :)

Hi. My name is Jackie Lamb. I am a CLNC, and went through the Vicki Milazzo course several years ago. I also visit in Des Moines quite often, lived in Mt. Pleasant for 15 years, and was at one time married to a man from Burlington. I took my ADN course at SCC, worked at what was BMC, and at Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Anyway, yes, there is a need for CLNCs in Iowa. Big thing to accomplish is to be able to communicate to them that your services are much more comprehensive than a paralegal,so therefore you are cost effective, and have extensive nursing background, so you know the ins and outs of the hospital, like the policy and procedures, "unwritten policies" that are done because that is the way the doctor wants it done, standards of care, etc. Make up a sample case and given them a copy. Make friends with the secretary--they are the gatekeeper. Practice making your main points and getting them across in one minute. I offer a discount the first time they give me a case, and every fifth case after that.

You do need to take a course in LNC--there is quite a bit to it, and laws are always changing. Vicki has a home course, as well as 6 day workshops. I chose the VIP course, and it was worth it. I can get an opinion any time I want. Vicki is a multi-millionaire nurse attorney who does not practice as an attorney but rather as a nurse in her consulting firm. Her husband, Tom, is also an attorney who left his practice two years ago to join her. The conference is dynamic. You have lots of books to reference, etc. She is also now putting on a two day hands on workshop where you actually work with attorneys. My husband is a RN CLNC and is thinking about taking that course.

Where in Southeast Iowa are you?

Hi. This is my first post. I'm an RN doing private duty nursing part-time in the Cedar Rapids area. I, too, have received some info on the Vicki Milazzo course and am searching for info about this field. Sounds like the hardest thing about it is having to market yourself and find your own contracts, etc. Scary for me!! I am also wondering how different this is from RN coding. Anyone know about that??

after you go I would love to here from you. maybe a private message so it is easier to find. I am like you I have debated and debated about whether to take the course.

Good Luck !!
