How many of you have the guts to speak up about patient care issues? How many of you have paid a price. For example wrongful termination or inaccurate bad references.Can we unite on one issue? A legal defense fund for nurses. Most nurses live paycheck to paycheck fearful for thier jobs. Studies show that 90% of nurses fail to speak up on issues that ultimately affect patient outcomes. Nurse practice acts state we have a "duty to report." 80% of nurses have no representation or civil protections of any kind. We are victims of the "at will employement laws." We need a legal defense fund so hospitals are put on notice they can no longer bully us and that we have something to fall back on. This is just a start to being able to protect ourselves and have a voice to protect out patients.
