I had way too much typed out explaining my reasons in detail but decided to edit to spare you all, ha. I'm currently nearing the end of mat leave. I truly had all intentions of returning to work when I started my leave. I was certain my husband would still need me to work a little!! I'm PRN. Due to a combination of reasons whose details I'll spare you including: husband's military obligations, maintaining a good impression at his civilian job since he's barely been there d/t military, working the minimum shifts my job will only pay for daycare therefore canceling out my need to work, and increased call at my job we've decided its best that I stay home with my baby since childcare is unpredictable and or too expensive right now. I'm already down on the schedule for minimum shifts in sept because I really thought I'd be going back. Acceptable to give 3-4 week notice? I I had unpaid leave and no benefits etc so no need to return for a day or so to avoid paying anything back or anything like that. I generally liked my job and co workers and want to be courteous.

Of course it's okay to leave with notice. 2 weeks is standard notice, but if you are able to give more than that it's a nice thing to do. Best wishes for you and your baby!
@FolksBtrippin thanks for the reassurance. It's easy to leave a real crap job, just harder to leave a better one 🙂
