Hi everyone! So I'm in a bit of a predicament. I graduate from my accelerated BSN program August 7th and I have accepted a nurse residency position at an amazing hospital in the OR. The hospital I have accepted a job at is where my boyfriend is a graduate assistant coach for the football team at the Division 1 University in town. Obviously due to COVID-19, the NCAA football season is in question of even happening this year. With that being said, if it's canceled, he will be looking for a new job wherever he can find one in the country in August/September. If the season does happen, he will be looking for a new job January/February. Regardless, he will be leaving this town in less than a year and possibly less than 6 months. I feel so bad with starting this new position knowing I won't even be there for a year. Will it look bad if I leave in less than a year due to these circumstances? I would love some feedback on this one! Thank you!

Why wouldn't you go ahead and finish out your residency? Without that, getting another position in the OR will be very difficult. Surely you and your boyfriend can live apart for a few months? Or he can wait for you instead of you sacrificing YOUR career to prioritize his? This is something you need to consider hard. Why is his job more important than yours? You aren't married - why would you put your ability to support yourself in the future independently on a back burner to follow wherever he goes?
Just stay the course, take the residency, stay at least a year and then look for work where he is if that is still what you want.
