Last year and kicked out for one failed class

Published

Hi,

Basically what happened is I had a notoriously hard teacher for a genetics class and wanted to drop it and retake the class in the summer, my program allows one retake. My advisor told me to stick with it and try to pass, so i stayed enrolled and failed the course ( my first ever failed course). I re-took it in the summer and had mistakenly thought i had a final grade of a B. A week before classes start I got an email saying i was kicked out of the program. Turns out on my transcript i had gotten a D and when i emailed my teacher he said that his grade was correct, and was because i had forgotten to do an reading assignment which was heavily weighted in his course. I had gotten an A on the cumulative final and had done good on all the other quizzes. I'm a 3.4 GPA student and have always known i wanted to go into nursing.... What should i do? Is there another medical field i should look in to or should i look to transferring schools? I am not passing the blame on anyone, i know it was my mistake that made me fail, but I was so close to graduating and living out my dream, and now i have no idea what to do.

OP:

Rather than plead your case on a site filled with good hearted but often times schadenfreude inspired voyeurs who know nothing of the true particulars of your problem but will none-the-less be glad to offer their two cents, go to someone at the school who can walk you through your options, after you take a deep breath, to determine the best well informed way forward. If what you say is valid, you sound to me like a salvageable student on the face of things. But at this point only you know that.
