hi,i got accepted into the sept 2007 program. how many of you are nursing students or pre nursing students in langara? and those who graduated or are current students - any tips on the courses, professors, practicum, books, tuition etc.?
come out, come out, wherever u are!
when you start your program private message me. there are books that literally will never be touched at all.. let me know and i'll save you a few hundred dollars worth of books.
as for first term it goes by extremely slowly.. very boring dry stuff.
second term we are placed in geriatric care homes
third term we are put into acute care (still majority is old people.. they come in with cva's and mi's most of the time)
Hi,
I will be starting nursing at Langara College this September 2010. Are there any suggestions, course tips, books to get or not to get, books to pre-read. I am excited, but would like to find out more about what to expect from some courses and from the student nurses' experiences.
thanks. look forward hearing from y'all.
Hi Rosiee,
I applied last year spring, got offered a seat this september because someone dropped out of the waitlist, or like me, I couldn't take the seat this september so i postponed until next year. According to the admissions office, they said usually about 1 year wait time due people dropping out, changed their minds, etc. So overall I'd said about a year, but i do agree waiting sucks. Best of luck to you though.
rosiee,Have you heard anything from Langara yet?
It's been almost 9 weeks for me and I didn't heard anything... it's really worrying me...
Was there a supplement/essay that we have to write??? O___O
No, you don't have to write an essay to get admitted to Langara Nursing.
It does take a while for the admissions clerk to sort through all the paperwork. I felt the same way you did when I had to wait.
If you go to Langara's website, Nursing section, and click on "contact information" you will find the phone number for the admissions clerk.
Give her a call and ask where things stand for you. They always gave me the information I needed when I called.
I'm currently in term 4. PM me if you have any questions.
Erik
Thanks Erik! So I took your advice and spoke to the admissions clerk. She was really nice! For those who are still waiting...
Apparently, they've just finished evaluating those applications received in August b/c the lack of staffs to cover everything right at the moment. They'll start to evaluate applications received in September at the start of next week and hopefully send out results by the end of Dec. I guess more waiting to do! But it feels better knowing the reason for the wait.
Wow~ Erik! So you're like 1/2 way through the program! I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions to ask once I hear back from Langara.
