Nursing Students LPN-RN

Any one in this program? I am looking it to it as it is the cheapest option I have found... Seems a lot like excelsior with the exception on clinicals (how do they do them?)????

I found out today that I also got in for September. I live in Arlington and would love a study buddy! I also read that THEY are getting our clinical sites and precepters is that not correct?

Hey I am in tyler and I got my job set up for my clinicals. I start in september as well. Good luck.:yeah:

I am currently taking general courses in hopes of applying to the lamar transition program. I am in Tyler as well! I will have to find a location to complete my clinicals. Where do you work in Tyler if you dont mind posting that info? I would love to maybe have a headstart as to a facility that might be willing to allow my clinical rotation.

Ok I, too, am considering LSC LVN to RN transition so if any current or previous students have the time could you all please give us an update as to your experiences with LSC. I have read lots of great info by far. Im curious as to if the assignments are book work assigments or community based assignments? What are the discussions like? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

]I am currently doing the online LVN-RN program at Lamar State. I started on April 4th and I am on my second nursing class right now (classes are 5 weeks with 1 week off in between).

It is a very time-consuming program if you also have to work full time while doing it. I work a rotating schedule (7 12-hour shifts in 14 days) and this was the only program, where I was able to do all my work online and still keep my full time job.

The hospital I work at has an "academic partnership" with Lamar State so I will be able to do my clinicals at my hospital with a preceptor or I might have to go to our "mother" hospital.

What hospitals are partnered with Lamar?

Currently attending the program right now, in the "clinical" portion. My take on the program....If you are an EXPERIENCED LVN than you may do well in this program. It very time consuming and there is not alot of direction. New program, at times they are disorganized and not cohesive. You do not get test/class work reviews back, which is bad business for new nurses like me (no rational, what's the point, I'm not learning anything). You can get a review if you drive to Port Arthur and meet with the teachers though (haha its 6 hr drive for me). Clinicals, forget it, they make you do them at your work. Which for me, like most VN's, is a long term care facility. And, well, I do so same thing during my clinical time as I do during work hours, except for free......If you are a new nurse, NOT a good option at all! Go to a regular community college. They still haven't had a group take boards yet so keep your ears open to see how that goes before you make a choice....

WOW, how are clinicals going for you? Any what type of assignments are involved with clinicals? I'm trying to find a hospital that will accept me for clinicals, do you know any? I was told that most of the hospitals are only accepting their own employees...don't know about nursing homes or home healths. My email is [email protected]... please contact me. Im trying to get all the info. i can! lol:D

How is the program going? Just started it and wanted some feedback!

i agree with you; the program/classes are a little confusing at times. there is a lot of self-studying involved. fortunately i have been an lvn for 5 years and i work in a hospital, where i'll be able to do my clinicals; that helps a lot!

how are the clinicals going? is there a certain amount of clinical hours that you have to get in a specified time frame? i just finished 2514 (client with complex health needs) and will be starting 2535 (integrated client care mgmt) next week. i will start my clinicals in january.

Hello! Question, did anyone get into Lamar having taken "Developmental Psychology?" Lamar's paperwork says "Life Span" but it's the same course. At some schools it's called "life span" and others, like the one I graduated from (Univ of North Texas), it's called Developmental Psychology (Psyc 3620). Just a question they were giving me a difficult time about that.... Not that it matters anymore since I'm already in my first choice program.

Just something that bothered me, why don't they know this.... (uggggh)
