Anybody in this program already? Lamar partnered with Methodist Hospital as one of their clinical sites, so glad to learn that, The whole package is 15 months all classes on line it runs by module per module is 5 wks, its a fast face i believe they have 4 start dates june 2011, sept.2011 jan, 2012 and april 2012. Has anybody here my co- lvn's who had already started the program. Please give me some input if how you guys are taking it since it is a fast pace. Thanks in advance for the insight you can share.

I'm not currently enrolled in this program as of yet, but I am considering applying for the September start date. However, my sister IS currently enrolled, so I do have some insight. This program is structured and consists of a total of 5 modules. Clinicals are done one of two ways- (a) at your employer or (b) a facility approved by the CON. You are responsible for finding a preceptor. It is a fast-paced program, similar to UT-Arlington's online option. Time frames for modules are either 5, 8 or 12 wks depending on the course.
Hello Mochachild,
Thanks for the input re: your sister being currently n the program. Was she required to take TSI or to submit TSI Scores before being accepted? We were told in the presentation by Lamar to us that we don't need to have TSI scores but on their ads it said TSI scores may apply.Can you pls.ask your sister if she took it or submitted some TSI scores before getting accepted? Thanks a million, Best regards and good luck hope that you can join the September class.

Could you please ask your sister is she was required to submit TSI scores before being accepted to the program? Cuz when Lamar presented it to us we were told that we dont need TSI scores but on their ads is says TSI may apply. I would appreciate it very much if you can ask your sister about it. I would appreciate if you could respond to my request. Thanks a million n good luck hope you can join the September class. Good luck n best regards.

Thanks for the kind words!:) No, my sister did not have to submit any TSI scores. She graduated from Lamar's VN program 20 yrs ago or something like that. I think the purpose of the TSI test is to determine college readiness which is at the disclosure of that particular college- just like the TAKS, THEA, etc. You've already satisfied that requirement by receiving your VN Certificate from the state of Texas...don't know about any other state. If in doubt, contact the admissions office for specifics.
thanks for the response, how is she doing with her present module? what module is she in now how is she taking it? regards n keep in touch
She just completed Module 1 and is currently going through registration for Module 2. I think she came out with minimal scars! Will keep you posted. Good luck to you as well! Be blessed!

How would you go about finding your own preceptor? That sounds really weird??
@sarahcooper
Most students choose their preceptors at their place of employment (e.g. fellow co-workers, management, etc), which is the easiest and logical choice. The school has specifics regarding the credentials of potential preceptors and will provide that once you're accepted.
