I have been a labor and delivery/ postpartum RN for fifteen years. I am also finishing up my MSN-EDU in the next few months. That being said, my family is considering what moving abroad to Ireland entails. L&D nursing does not exist in Ireland, the UK, and Europe. Those nurses are all midwives. I am hoping someone has some experience moving from the US to the EU as a labor nurse and what extra school or certifications might be involved. I am reviewing how to register with the nursing and midwifery board they have there, but I am wondering if any US ex-pats might have advice for me. Thank you for your time and ideas!!
Also, my husband is a Med Surg RN who I think may have a better time getting work there because of his experience, but he happens to have an ADN, not a BSN> Any thoughts here as well?
