Hello everyone, I am a new graduate nurse (aug 2007), who recently passed my boards last week. Even before I started nursing school I knew that I wanted to be a labor and delivery nurse and that didnt change throughout nursing school. I love L&D, it is my passion. I completed my senior practicum in L&D also and that solidified the fact that I wanted to work labor and delivery after graduation as I am not really interested in working med surg. Are there any labor and delivery nurses here from miami and know of any hospitals in dade or broward that accepts new graduates into labor and delivery. After passing my boards I am now on the job search and would love to land a L&D job. Thank you

]Good luck c your search, L&D is a very rewarding area but, you will gain a lot of skill in med-surg that you can use in L&D. If you are unable to find a labor job then go for med-surg until you can find something, you won't be sorry. You will see they unusual in L&D but in med-surg you will gain they skill that the other nurses will not be able to do. For example a mother-baby nurse had a old section pt and she got an ileus, she went straight out of school into this specialty area, she had to call a med-surg unit to come and put down an NG tube because she and no one else in PP knew how to. How sad. Once again good luck c your decision be happy. :lol2:
