KSU Accelerated RN, TEAS test, and GPA

Published

Ok, so I've kind of looked around the site, but I can't find what I'm looking for. I applied to the KSU accelerated nursing program for the Spring of 2012. Our applications, TEAS score, etc. already had to be turned in by May 31st. I was curious to know about how long they take to get back to you to let you know if you made it to the second round. I've got a 3.2 GPA right now, and I graduate from UGA in December with a BS in Psychology. I made a 91.3% overall score on the TEAS V. Does anyone have any idea about my chances of getting in? I took the TEAS without even taking A&P at all, but I'm taking it right now. Any advice if I do make it to the second round? I am CPR/First Aid certified and I have my CNA. Also, if anybody needs any advice about the TEAS, I'd be happy to answer some questions and tell you what I thought of it.

Thanks! :)

I'm applying to the GSU program, but I've heard that Ksaw has one of the best nursing programs in this part of the country. On this board, folks have GPAs upwards of 3.8 on their applications for the GSU nursing school.... so I honestly have no idea how having a 3.2 might affect you. Your other experience and the rest of the application probably mean a great deal to them, too. Was there an essay and short answer for KSU as well?

I'm afraid the GPA will hurt me, but I've been told my TEAS score is really good. There aren't many people with good GPAs AND good scores, so I'm hoping I have just as good of a chance as someone who has a better GPA but a worse score. The problem with KSU is that first round is only based on numbers. They have my basic information, my test scores, and my transcript... that's it. If I get past that round, then I get to go in for an interview and that's when they ask questions and look at other things. I just really hope I get in. It's such a great opportunity. Have you taken the TEAS?

This is posted under Kansas Nursing Program Discussions but I think belongs elsewhere? Not sure we're talking about Kansas, maybe Kentucky?

Haha you're right. Kennesaw State in Georgia is what I'm talking about. I'm new to this stuff, but thanks:)

I got an interview for the accelerated program....anyone else?

Yes ma'am I did! There is a better thread that I started. This one is under Kansas instead of Georgia. lol. Oops. Try "KSU accelerated RN program Spring 2012" in the GA Nursing Programs Discussion. There is a lot more going on and you will be able to talk to other people and see their GPAs and scores! :)

Thanks, I'll check it out.
