Knoxville Tn

Published

I am RN with 15yrs experience. 8 yrs recent research about 7 yrs women services mainly Postpartum care /newborn nursery and a few yrs medsurge. My husband has oppurtunity in Knoxville and Irvine california. I am not to thrilled with the knoxville oppurtunity as the nursing oppurtunities are not plenitful as well there are no oppurtunties for me to work in Research not unless I commute to Nashville Tn. Irvine California is wayyyyyyyyyyy expensive and I do believe there is alot of competition for jobs out there. I would like to know about the job oppurtunties in Knoxville Tn and the area. Are there things to do there? It just doesnt seem that appealing to me but not ready to totally dismiss the town.

Thanks

I work in Knoxville right now, I moved and started here in September. I work at university of Tennessee medical center in the mother/baby unit. I don't mind my job and I think Ive learned a ton so far, the pay isn't as high as I know some other hospitals pay but I'm not in a position to complain with this being my first job. I ideal wanted Nashville so bad but I wasn't able to get hired there so this is my settled for it position till I get some experience and can move to Nashville.

I work as an RN in knoxville currently. It's a small city, but there are fun festivals and activities once it starts getting warmer. You pretty much have 3 hospital systems to choose from: UT ( a stand alone hospital), covenant, and tennova. For UT, you have to have a bachelors. Tennova is OK, but the company keeps getting bought out and they were on a hiring freeze for a while. Covenant owns most hospitals around there and is a pretty good company to work for. Don't expect pay to be impressive. Starting is 18.50 and you get the chance to go up a dollar once you have one year in.
