Know of any "Graduate Nurse" programs for icu?

I graduated in May, passed my board exam, and have been working for not too many months in med-surg. I feel that this is "too slow track," and desire to move to a program where a recent grad RN can be trained for a critical care environment.

Know of any such progams in MA?

Thanks

I know Mass General has one, but don't know of any others. Would be interested to hear of ones south of Boston myself.

this link is teh description.

Interesting requirements though:

"BSN required, 6 months or less bedside nursing experience. Experience in a patient assistive role or clinical practicum in a critical care setting required (please detail critical care experience in resume)."

Let's see, the sum of my experience in a critical care setting was one day on a NISCU, or rather a few hours, as my patient was promptly transferred to SICU. I wonder how many BSN's have that? I haven't a BSN, but have two BS degrees...wonder it that'd cut it?

In NH DHMC (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center) hitchcock.org has one of these programs. I have heard, that they expected grads to flock to it, yet this did not happen. I've also heard that the results of the first "group" was less than satisfactory..." (note: this is hearsay and may be totally erroneous).

Hope to hear of other programs.

From what I gathered they are looking for time on a unit -- in any capacity. I say apply and see what they say. The most they could do is say no! Good luck.

When I first graduated, I applied to the Mass General program and they turned me down as I have no ICU experience. Now that I have 8 months on a med-surg floor, I have looked into transferring into an ICU and have been told I would be hired if I choose to apply. No ICU experience needed as most ICUs have a long orientation. Not sure about MGH, though.
