Nursing in 09

I am starting the program at Kishwaukee college in the fall and was wondering if anyone here has gone there or is going soon. It has a reputation of being tough and has a pass rate around 99%. It is in Malta (near DeKalb) in northern IL. I am so excited and scared at the same time.:monkeydance:

Never heard of the school. But with a pass rate like that you should be feeling pretty good about yourself. At least if you pass your classes you will be much more likely to pass the NCLEX. It also means that the faculty probably do their best to really teach you criticial thinking skills. Good luck and congratualtions!
Thanks for the encouragement! I am very excited about going there, I have heard that NCLEX prep courses are not neccessary after that program. What school do you go to?

I am an NIU nursing student... Kish offers a great 2 year program from what I've heard. Though, if I were you I'd apply to NIU for your degree completion (It's a top notch school). I love it!! Nevertheless, both schools are tough... there is a lack of professors to teach, so the fact that you got into the program shows that you're an above average student. Congrats and Good Luck!https://allnurses.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif
I plan to eventually complete my degree through NIU, I have taken a couple classe toward my bachelor's but will not be able to take anymore until I finish my nursing program. When I got on the waiting list for the program, I was told to expect a 2-21/2 yr wait. That was in late January of 2005. I am so happy to get in so fast. Northern offers a degree completion where they are at kish and it is 1 night a week for 18months. I will need a few more classes before I can start that, but when I am ready, and settled in a good job, it will be my next step. What semester are you in? Good Luck! :)

I live in DeKalb and work in the area. Kish has a great program as does NIU.
The lack of instructors and professors is because it is an insult what they pay you to put your license on the line to be a clinical instructor.
JMHO.
I've been an ICU nurse for 18 years and wouldn't be able to take the pay cut for the hours required!!!
