I am stuck deciding between the two. I was wondering if any of you guys own one, if so, can you please share your experience with it, and what helped you decide one over the other if you had the option. BTW I do like them both. I have read up on all the specs, just want to know the opinion of current users. Thanks!

I have the Nook Color and I love it. I don't know enough about the Kindle 3 to compare individual features or specifications, but I will say that I use my Nook for both e-reading and internet access and find it reliable, fast, and the battery lasts me for days of intermittent usage.

I got a Samsung Galaxy Tab and put free reading apps on it so I use it for a reader. Nice because I have all the other uses available as well as the reading app. I also have reading apps on my laptop. Don't see the need for a device that is solely for reading.

It's a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. The Kindle is a dedicated e-book reader with a monochrome E-ink screen. The Nook uses a convention color LCD touchscreen, and can function as an Android-based tablet computer. The Nook display is very good, but is not optimized for e-books. On the other hand, it can display books in full color. The Kindle retails for $139, while the Nook is $249.
If you're just looking for a device for reading e-books, I'd suggest going with the Kindle. It's much cheaper, has terrific battery life, and features a great monochrome text display. If you're looking for a device that can also run apps and function as a media player, you'd be much better off with the Nook.

I have a Kindle and I LOVE IT! The e-ink screen is amazing with no glare at all. The best part is the battery life is long - you can go about a month if you keep your wi-fi turned off. The only downside to Kindle at this point (at least to me) is it doesn't offer library lending, BUT Amazon just announced that library lending will be available for all Kindle models this year. YAY! Last thing - I was at Barnes and Noble about a month ago and a bookseller was answering questions about the Nook for a customer. He leaned in really close and said "Buy the Kindle, it's way better".
Thank You all for responding. I went to look at the nook and kindle today side by side. I still have made my decision, but am leaning toward the Kindle. The nook looks good and have some nice features, however, it seems as if it would not be friendly to my eyes while reading on it. The features are the same as my laptop and phone, but I still don't know yet. The Samsung Galaxy S is probably awesome but way out of my price range.

I went with the Kindle, and I love it. I can read outside with it. I am assuming the Nook would have the same problems as my phone does. I can't see the screen in bright light. Also, I have a hard time getting to sleep, and my doctor told me not to look at any screens (TV, computer, phone) an hour before bed, because the lighting from them decreases melatonin production. I don't have a problem with the Kindle, because its screen is like a real book.
