Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ

Can anyone tell me about Kimbal Medical Center in Lakewood, NJ. I will be going on an interview there on Tues. :yeah:

I'm a new graduate, entering into nursing as a second career. I have worked in the pharmceutical industry for 10 years, so I have no idea what to expect when it comes to this hospital or how the interview will be structured. Any insight into the hospital or how a nursing interview for a new grad will proceed is much appreciated.

Hi. I saw your post while browsing in search of any comments on the working at Kimball Medical since I have recently accepted a nursing position there. I am also a 2nd (or 3rd) career new nurse. I interviewed at Kimball within the past month. I first met with an HR rep who is also a nurse. After we talked I was brought to the floor to meet with he unit manager and also get a tour of the floor. A day or so later someone from HR called to set up another interview with the nurse educator. A day or two later I received a phone call with a job offer. I found everyone to be very personable. There were no techical questions although I was asked about the nursing program I attended and my clinical experiences.

Good luck!

Hi Louise:

Thank you this is helpful. I'm technically on my 3rd career. I briefly started out in the pharmaceutical industry in biological safety, I then made a career switch to Regulatory Affairs and now I've pursued nursing. I'm the most statisfied with patient care than with sitting behind a desk all day. However, I'm afraid of the potential change.

I've been in email contact with HR rep so I knew she was a nurse from her signature in her e-mail. It sounds like I have the same interview set-up. I was told that I will meet with HR first then I will meet with the director of the department.

I'm very nervous about this interview as I'm used to a corporate atmoshere. Once they called you with a job offer, how long will it take till you start your orientation?

Once again, thanks for giving me some insight, it is very much appreciated!!!!!!!!

You will be fine. My most recent career is in corporate technology, and I totally agree with about life behind a desk (or inside a cubicle. I also agree about the fear, but really, if they can do it so can we! I am starting orientation March 7th pending passing a pharm exam a week earlier. It is about 3 weeks between the offer and the start date for me - I am under the impression that orientations start once or twice a month. As far as I know all you need to complete is their physical with another PPD and the exam (open pharm book and calculator allowed,) plus a bunch of other paperwork and you should be good to go. Have you had other nursing interviews?

Hi Louise:

No I've had no other interviews. I had just posted my resume over the past weekend and was called, it was totally unexpected that I would even hear anything. :D I'm just trying to keep this whole interview process discreet with my work. No one there knows I'm interviewing and I would like to keep it that way because if they found out and I didn't get the job, things could get miserable.

Hope everything went well today!

Hey Louise:

I thought it went well. No sure if they will want or consider me since I cannot start till May. However, I found the experience to be very educational. I was interviewed for the 2 floor PCU... It looks like a great place to learn and get a great amount of experience. I was warned that it was a stressfull floor and that I will be very busy. So they were extremely honest with me, which I was grateful for. We'll see how things go or in the future....

I just realized you updated the post. Congratulations on a positive interview. That is the same floor I was interviewed for. Have you heard anything more?
