I was told today that my patient has one and that his chance of dying within the next two weeks is something like 90% or greater... I was able to find limited information on the internet, but not much. Anyone ever heard of/had experience with these?

Apr 23, 2008 I did, but that seemed to be the ONLY site I could find on it, and I was wondering if KTU's were well-documented or only believed to exist by a small group of healthcare professionals.I ask because my clinical professor had never heard of them, but my mom, who is also a nurse, had.

I've seen them-according to the literature and in my experience the patient has less then 24 hours-I did see a pt live for almost 48hrs after developing a KTU.
