I'm starting nursing school at Keiser University on August 29th and they still have not been able to tell us what books are going to be in our fundamentals and pharmacology bundles. Its only a couple weeks away! My question are any of you at another campus starting at the same time know what these books are?! Please help with posting pictures or isbns.
Classes so far are awesome. If you have some medical experience a lot of the stuff that we are learning thus far is not hard its just a lot of information and one of the biggest things is rational. As far as class time and structure it goes as follows for my campus this semester. Monday is fundamentals 8-1 Tuesday is lab 8-1, and Wednesday is pharm 8-1. You will have clinical one day a week (mines is Thursday), and clinical can be from 6:30a to 3p or 2:30p to 11p. Some of my classmates have clinical on Friday. Whichever day you do not have clinical it would be a free/flex day, which is a day you don't have class, but if you ever need to make something up, you would do it on this day. The instructors make it clear they own you M-F but if something comes up where you have to come in on your flex day, they will try to give some advance notice. So far everything is good, on the first day they gave us a calendar for the semester which lays out assignment deadlines, test dates, and whats going to be covered in each and every class. Don't get wrong although the information we are learning at this time is not hard for me, we have a lot of work to do. Between reading text book chapters, doing activities in the workbooks, ati modules, ati readings, med cards, care plans, and trying to make sure you get all of your skills checked off so you can start clinical on time. We have aloooooooot of work to do.
Well so far fundamentals have their own bundle, in addition to 4 other books. Pharmacology has its own bundle, and I believe it was 2 other books. Some of the books in the bundle you will use specifically for that class, other books, will last you a life time. For example with my fundamentals bundle it came with the text book for fundamentals, and it had like 6 other books with it, one of which was title "2017 drug guide", which is something you may refer to even after you graduate. I think my classes next semester do not have bundles. On the book list now I just see a text book listed, along with a few other books, which probably means that it will be a lot cheaper. So basically every semester you will be buying books. However they do have a history of changing the required books at the last minute
Cocomarie Thank you so much for all the details ! It sounds very rigorous but I've been to school for MA and I've started nursing school for my ADN but I want to do my BSN to save money . Hmm so the bundles don't come with all the books . Would you recommend buying them elsewhere or through the bookstore ? Did you also have to buy medical supplies and uniforms out of pocket ? If you can would you mind emailing me [email protected]
I'm so jealous of your organized schedule
We haven't been given a schedule yet. We were told Tuesday or Thursday for clinicals, but it hasn't been assigned yet. At least we know where our clinical site is, so I guess that's a plus. This really lowers my enthusiasm about school, but I'm trying to stay positive.
Oh wow! We were given our clinical sites, days, and times, about 2 weeks before school started. Our program director is awesome she really "cracks the whip" so to speak but we are grateful for her. But don't get discourage, this week was kind of strange for us too because of the hurricane, but hopefully next week will be better and your cohort will have a better idea of what to expect for this semester. Have you tried reaching out to someone who is apart of the cohort ahead of you?
Hello,
How is your experience thus far at the Tampa campus? I am considering Keiser next year and wanted some feedback on the applying process, cost of the program, etc. I called and spoke with an admissions rep and he was not that friendly and did not offer a whole lot of information. Any info from you will be greatly appreciated.

Omg! Yes yes yes! That helps so much they still are not telling us what they are. So you know what books they are but there not stocked with them to buy yet?
