KCC ADN - Fall 2013

U.S.A. Hawaii

Published

These boards don't seem to be very active lately, but I figured I'd try asking here. The Fall ADN program starts in 2 weeks and I was just wondering if anyone has any experiences, tips, or suggestions for this program. I've heard mixed reviews about the instructors, labs, clinicals, etc. But any stories, tips, and whatnot would be great! Thanks! Or if anyone is starting with me, I'd love to know! I'm in the LCC cohort

Hey anita920, what was your score on the TEAS V? I'm trying to gauge the scores of folks that got into the current cohort. I'm applying for the Spring 2014 semester, and I wanna know my chances. :) Thanks!

Oh, and you're right, Hawaii boards aren't very active. But good luck on your first semester! Must be anxious to start :p

Hey rockinitfreshawaii,

I got an 85% on my TEAS V, first try. I took it last August, just before Fall semester started. I applied for Spring and didn't get in, but got in for this Fall. Which worked out because I wasn't ready to leave my job, haha.

If you get a score in the 80's-90's, I think you'll have a good shot at the program. I know they recently lowered the required scores to get in because 78% might be too high for people. Good luck and don't stop trying!

Hey anita920,

Wow that's an awesome score! Oh and thanks for replying to me.

I just took it this past Aug 12 and I got a 81.3%. I'm stoked about my score but not so much about my Pre-req/Co-req GPR. It's a 3.4, which isn't too competitive. I got both of my co-reqs done and nursing assistant training completed, which I hope will give me an edge. Now I just hope the pool of applicants for this upcoming semester isn't too competitive with >90% TEAS scores and >3.8 GPR's. Were your grades as competitive as your TEAS score when you applied?

Sorry for the late reply. School gets crazy (you'll find out soon enough). We were recently told that the pool of applicants has gone down a lot since many changes were made. But that was for the 78% required test score applicants. Since they are lowering it tentatively, idk how the pool will look. I don't remember my GPAs. But I was an alternate and got accepted 2 wks after my alternate letter.

Busy as a nursing student, though! How many were selected in your cohort?

About 30? But that's because the LCC satellite site opened for our class. Not sure if it'll be the same for the next classes entering.

30 is a lot. Do you possibly know the number of folks in your cohort that were alt listed then eventually accepted? I got alt listed and am partly sad that I didn't get accepted but still hopeful that acceptance is still a possibility. I know you said that you were alt listed at first then accepted 2 weeks after, which must've triggered a ton of emotions.

LOL you and I posted similar threads back in 2013 and no one answered me....
