KCC ADN FALL 2013

Aloha Everyone!

I've applied to KCC ADN FALL 2013. I have a 4.0 GPA in my pre-reqs and co-reqs, I received a 82% of the TEAS, I have my CNA certification and have been working as one since 10/12. To those already in the program, anyone have an idea of what my chances are for getting in? Or anyone know any info on getting in? Anyone else apply for Fall 2013? Good luck to everyone who applied!

Also, does anyone know what exactly "direct patient care" means? Does it have to be as a CNA or can it be as a PCA (personal care assistant) doing home care. Just a thought :)

Did you get your acceptance letter? I got a letter from Kapiolani today. I got alternate listed. I donʻt have any direct patient care so with your experience I would expect you to get in with no problem. Hope it works out for you=)

I just got my letter from KCC yesterday. I'm alt listed. But I have my nurse aide training and a high TEAS score. My GPA isn't perfect, but I should assume you'd do fine.

Hi, I got my letter April 5th and was accepted into the ADN program for Fall 2013. I am currently in the LPN program and will be graduating from that in August, then starting the ADN soon after. I look forward to meeting everyone

nicm64, as long as you have direct interaction with a patient it qualifies. Looks like your stats were good too - did you get in?

kaanoi & anita920, UHManoa extended the deadline to the 19th to respond because they hadn't heard from me. I never got a letter. I withdrew my UH app today since I accepted KCC already, so who knows, someone will drop KCC to take that spot. I hear that alts sometimes can get notice all the way up to the first day. :)

808wife, congrats on getting accepted into the ADN program and finishing the LPN program. I got accepted, got my letter on April 5th to. I'm very excited to start, looking forward to meeting everyone. See you at the NSO!

puamelia - that's great to hear! I actually got into the PRCN Sum '13 program at KCC and accepted. And I figured, why give up a sure thing for a maybe thing, right? So, I'll be starting the PRCN this May. Good luck in the ADN!

I just got a letter from KCC today saying that I've been moved from the alt list to acceptance! I was gonna start the LPN program this May, but will probably take the ADN spot. How exciting!

anita! I got a letter as well, however it was dated April 19th, postmarked April 23rd and told me that I needed to return my intend to accept letter by April 22nd. I donʻt think Iʻm going to accept. I got accepted to the Masterʻs Entry Program at UH-Manoa. I am torn though, because Iʻm afraid that the MEPN will be extremely rushed and I may end up being ill prepared. Nevertheless, Iʻm so happy for you. I guess Alt listed isnʻt half bad sometimes. =)

Congrats Anita920! looking forward to seeing you! Probably better to go with the ADN if you're shooting for RN eventually.

Congrats kaanoi! The MEPN program RNS sit for boards after a year so I understand your concern. I think since you have nurse aide training you'll a little background and a lot of the posts say your hands-on learning is more from your preceptors so I would just do as much as you can in your clinicals. I agree, alt list can be great!

If you don't mind me asking, what were your stats like? High TEAS V and high GPA?

Hi Anita920 and 808wife,

I was wondering if you could give me some insight on the LPN program. I am interested in applying for next years Fall start date. Any advice, help, insight would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
