Kaplan University RN to BSN program

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I just started the program. I am thinking of dropping it before the 3 week trial. I just found out that although books are included half of the books in the program are ebooks. Meaning I will have to read them on the computer or ipad in order to study. I hate this idea, I love reading from a hard copy on paper. Any KU students taking courses or completed the program have or had the same issue? If so how did you deal? Really am thinking twice about this program.

We can definitely understand how using E-Books is an adjustment. We find that about half our students prefer E-Books and half do not! Consider some of the benefits: a) carrying an e-reader or tablet is easier than carrying around a large textbook, b) depending upon the copyright of the book, you may be able to access your book from several different computers (convenient if you're stopping by a library or using a shared computer during a work break), c) E-Books are the best way for the University to ensure that students are getting the most up-to-date edition of the text and d) they're environmentally friendly! Luckily the cost of e-readers and tablets has gone down over the years and you can find a simple e-reader that can simulate the experience of a book, without glare and without strain on your eyes. If all else fails? Print the pages you're assigned.

The beauty of going to school online is that you can take school anywhere and study anytime. This applies to E-Books as well. If you have further concerns, please don't hesitate to call your Education Advisor.
