Kaplan Qbank/Question Trainer Scores

Published

Hello All,

If you were anything like me doing the Kaplan question trainers, you would get done and immediately freak out and research your scores because you felt like you were doing so poorly. The 65% they tell you to get never happened for me except sometimes when doing a 20 question Qbank test. Anyways, I promised pass or fail I would post all my results to make someone else feel a little better about their scores.

Question Trainer Tests:

1-53%

2-57.3%

3-50%

4-55%

5-52%

6-62%

7-58%

QBank- I only completed about 30% of (I know so horrible of me)

My average was a 60%, I utilized the Qbank to specifically do subjects I did poorest on in my previous Question Trainer. Paying special attention to the exam breakdown, Pharm & Management of Care are top two I believe.

When I first started studying I was going through content, content, content. I got so frustrated with Kaplans content section I actually purchased a 5 week NCSBN review ($55). The content was much more to the point and the questions made me feel better than Kaplan- I wasn't getting 55% and flipping out. They also give you rationales a bit better than, "Not applicaple" or "Priority, but not as high as #3". Plus, they make the test so I felt I couldn't go wrong.

And for the moment you all have been reading for... I passed... 75 questions... ~36 multiple multiples. Yes that many multiple multiples(:nailbiting::no:). People who passed kept telling me "don't even study anymore". Which was true. You know what you know from nursing school. DO QUESTIONS. STOP REVIEWING SO MUCH CONTENT. STOP DOUBTING. Review the sections you did really poorly on then use the Qbank to review by doing questions and looking at rationale. If you don't look at rationale nothing will stick and it will be a waste of time. OK, done ranting. Best of luck studying and I hope my scores put someone else at ease like the other posts helped me.

Best of Luck,

Hi How did you guys do on the Kaplan Exit Exam? My class will take it in a few days and Ive heard its terribly hard. Our pass rate has to be above a 70%.

It is hard. I did not do well. If memory serves me right I think I did around 60%

Kaplan is hard and almost all of them are passing level questions so one can say its alright to have a score range of 60-70%. But of course, always try to aim high! I was so nervous when I was scoring 60% on many of the practice exams but I passed the NCLEX with only taking the minimum amount of questions (70 or 75?)

Is the exam similar in difficulty to question trainers 4,5,6?

My memory is a little hazy since I took the exam January of last year (2015) but I would say yes. I had difficulty answering those questions and I would just get 60-69%.

Getting three to four SATA questions in a row is also not unusual.

where can you find the question trainers? Mine just shows nclex sample test 1, nclex sample test 2, who do you see first and alternate format test. thanks

Kaplan NCLEX prep course. It is a paid course. Kaplan.com... I log in at nursing.kaplan.com. I am unaware of how much it costs (I think around 250?) because it was part of my tuition for nursing school (we took "integrative tests" throughout the program).
