Kaplan or HESI NCLEX review?

Just curious, has anyone taken the HESI NCLEX review course? Does anyone know how it compares with Kaplan's? I am planning to take the Kaplan course, but the school has just told us that we must take the HESI NCLEX review if we do not pass the exit HESI with a 900 predictability score. I am just curious as to how these two courses compare. While Kaplan is more expensive, they do offer the money back guarantee. Very appealing to me and classmates as we want to pass the NCLEX on the first attempt.

Thanks in advance for your input.

They offer a money back guarantee but they make it very hard to try and get the refund in your hands. Get it in writing from them that you will get your money back, if you request it.

Thanks, will do. Do you know anything about the HESI review course?

I just found out the latest totals from my class regarding NCLEX. Out of 79 total, 59 have already taken and passed NCLEX. The majority of them used Kaplan and Saunders. The 3 people that failed out of my class so far all used the HESI review book. Hmmm....

There are a few people left to take the NCLEX (like myself- I get that honor in 22 hours), but given what happened with my class.....I would step away from the HESI course.

I also know that my school stopped using the HESI review book for HESI study because of the low pass rate and issued us all Saunders review books our Senior 2 semester.

I just finished the Kaplan review. I don't know how well it set me up for success yet, I will find out on Wednesday. I do know that the videos were a waste of time as they went word for word out of the review book. The review book also contains a lot less information that then Saunders book. However, the Kaplan questions are harder than the Saunders questions. After 4 weeks with the Kaplan questions I was making in the low 70's on the practice tests and around 85-90's on the Saunder's tests.

After tommorow I can tell you which (Kaplan, Saunders, or Hesi) has the practice questions that are most like the real deal.

I took the Kaplan review 13 years ago and passed on my first board attempt. I would have highly recommended it then and don't think I would have passed my boards on my first attempt without it! Don't worry about how much it costs. Think of the money you will be making when you pass your boards! Good luck! :nurse:
