Kaplan courses are they worth the money???

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi All, I have failed the NCLEX twice now and feel very dispondent. I studied so hard last time and now just don't know what to do. I have numerous study aids one of which is the Kaplan critical thinking text. I have received some information about the kaplan 5 day courses and on line courses and wondered if anyone had any feedback or expereince. I just seem to be throwing money at everything to do with NCLEX and still not getting the result I need. Please help. Thanks Jo:cry:

Do a search on this forum to see what others have said about this course, but ultimately it will be your decision. Any course can be used to your advantage, but you have to do the work to make yourself ready. Most people do not take a course. They study review sources for one to three months prior to testing and do ok. Sit down and think about how you studied in the past and see if you can identify flaws in your approach, then change your tactics to meet the challenge. Good luck.

I took my NCLEX-RN yesterday morning. I used Kaplan and I felt that the questions they give you were very good practice. However, they teach you something called the "decision tree" and garuntee you that if you use this method you WILL pass NCLEX. I found yesterday that I was unable to use that method on WELL over half of the questions. I had 243 questions, and I'm not sure if I passed yet or not. I will tell you that as a class at my school we all took Kaplan, I'm only the 2nd in my class to take the test, the first person passes with 75 questions. Last year, 100% of the students who took Kaplan passed. Idk if that helps... good luck!

have u dont the pearson vue trick? maybe that will give u some hope seeing that u had alot of SATAA questions

I just found out that I did PASS! It was posted on the actual state boards site.

I took the NCLEX 4x and flunked. I didn't know what to do. I really didn't want to spend the money on Kaplan, but at that point I was desperate and dished out the money. Took the class, faithfully attended every one, took notes, paid attention, asked questions and did all the on line stuff. After a month, scheduled test #5 and passed. The Kaplan may work for some people and may not work for others. It's more of test taking strategies which I needed because I wanted to know what the boards were looking for and my nerves got the best of me. If you are looking for content, Kaplan is not it. They take everything you should already know and help you to answer the questions. If you don't know the content, Kaplan is probably not going to be of benefit to you.
