Kaiser Socal New Grad Residency 2023

Updated:   Published

Starting a thread for those of us who applied for the March 2023 cohort this January. Anyone else applied? If so, which location? I received the snapshot screening questionnaire this week. They say we will hear from them early next week. Good luck to us! Can't wait to hear from y'all ?

Hi again LOL does anyone know the likelihood of being offered a full time position at Kaiser sunset? I just found out that the position is initially per diem with no benefits and then part time or full time depending on unit availability.

Hi @bnpina from what I can remember, you may be offered a full time/part time position by your unit after working certain hours per week after a certain period of time. But I'm not quite sure if that applies for the new grad program. You are however able to pick up more shifts once your orientation/probation (6 months) is over. Only downside is you still won't have benefits unless you are part/full time. Hope that helps. Goodluck on your interview!

Seems like they are calling external applicants first. None of the internal applicants that I know have heard anything yet.

ALSO FOR ANYONE WONDERING: They said program start date is March 06, 2023

Ahh thank you, I appreciate that! Do you know how well established the Kaiser SoCal new grad program is? I know the NorCal one has been around for a while but I'm sort of unfamiliar with the SoCal one.

@bbRN @bnpina We were asked about our preference for full time or part time, and day or night shift.

Also, there were quite a few internal applicants that interviewed with me on Monday. I know they said they were going to interview more people on Tuesday (today) and make a decision this week. This is for Woodland Hills location.

@bnpina Im actually not sure how established it is but I do know that they've had it for quite some time now too.

@bnpina Hi!! I am also interviewing at Kaiser Sunset this week.  Do you have any idea what departments they are offering positions for in the interview, or does anyone know?  I'm not sure if it's just medical surgical/telemetry or if there will be others... but I was hoping we would receive more info before the actual interview.  Thank you in advance, and good luck either way!?

Also, thanks for the info @bbRNand @Nursevana! Best of luck to you all.

Hi! Good luck on your interview! From my understanding it's only med-surg/tele but I could be wrong.

Good luck to all of you!!   If you don't mind me asking do all of you have your BSN Or higher degree?

@bnpina That's what I figured as well. Thank you for your response!

For those that got an interview, what do you think made your application stand out?

Did you include a cover letter?

Have previous KP experience?

Fluent in other languages?

Volunteering experience?

Certs or extra training?

Relatives that work at KP?

Thanks

No cover letter, previous nursing experience or relatives at KP.

I am working on my BSN, speak one other language, and have some volunteer experience and certifications.

That's correct. I was asked if I preferred med surg or tele.
