just waiting

I've finished all of my prerequsites and now I'm just on the waiting list. I've been waiting since May of last year. Is there a wait list everywhere or is it that my school can't keep up with the demand?

No waiting at my school, I dont understand why everyone is waiting. If you get a 75% or higher you submit a letter of intent then you either get in or you dont.

Same here no waiting list..I got in the first semester I applied..they go by GPA and entrance exam but I understand that all but a few that applied got in. Good luck

I'm also on the so-called waiting list but I'm at #4. I just spoke to the Director of the program who assured me that I would make it in for sure as they've been able to accommodate a certain % of waiting list candidates for the past 4 years. Where I am from, there are only a few colleges who have nursing programs and they ALL have waiting lists. The community colleges have waiting lists up to 2 years long. The college that I am going to is a private one which has a very steep tuition price. This may be the reason that they are able to squeeze in more wait list people.

I think waitlists are a regional thing. In Washington state there are very few if any schools that keep waitlists, not b/c there is little demand but b/c they just choose not to. In most schools here in WA if you don't get in when you apply you just have to keep applying until you are accepted. I actually prefer this method over waitlists. I think it improves your chance as you never know what the pool of candidates will be like year to year. That being said I also looked at schools in Oregon and many of them have waitlists they also choose admission by lottery. Personally I HATE LOTTERY ADMISSION! :angryfire But most schools in WA don't use a lottery system. So anyway I think it is a regional thing. You should also consider applying to other schools in your arear if the commute is not too bad. Good Luck!!!

It seems to me like community colleges have more of a wait list than universities or private schools, and certain areas in the country are more impacted than others. I know in California that almost all programs are impacted.

May I ask what part of virginia are u in b/c I also live in VA and my school did not have a waiting list. I will start at Sentara in chesapeake next month and got my results within 2 weeks of taking my entrance exam.

Specializes in starting pn school this fall!!.

at the college i'm attending there is a waiting list. i was originally on the waiting list and then found out a few weeks ago that a spot opened up for me in the program. the college gets about 300 applicants each year and only has spots for 30 people in the program, everyone else either is put in the waiting list or is not accepted.

I'm in the Richmond, VA area.

Most of the colleges around here (unless you go private) have waiting lists, but I think that California schools just can't keep up with the demand.

The deadline for nursing application in my school was Feb of this year. They admit 100 students each year. There were about 60-70 students that got in on the initial round on April and 30 was put on the waiting list- for different reasons.....faculty availability, sciences taken, etc. I was one of them. My letter stated though that if a seat does not become available for this year, that I have to re apply next year. The school started clearing off the list since May and I got my seat June 14. The wait was nerve wrackin'. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you and hoping you get in.

I don't know how to ask a question without replying like this, so please forgive me...I'm so interested in all you are saying because my daughter has finished her pre-reqs in Tacoma, WA, but feels she may never get accepted in a nursing program (LVN or RN). She's a single mom and has a gpa around 3.4. Any tips? Any encouraging stories from Tacoma area?
